Costa Rica is one of the only places on Earth where you can watch humpback whales during two separate annual migrations from opposite hemispheres — and the warm waters of the Marino Ballena National Park are their meeting ground. From January to February and again from July through October, these cathedral-sized mammals breach, sing, and nurse their calves just a few kilometers offshore. When a 40-ton humpback rolls its fluke out of the water beside your boat, time stops. This is one of the most powerful wildlife encounters on the planet — and it happens right here, in Uvita.
